Ambassador Revaz Lominadze held a meeting with the Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM)

On February 27, 2026, in Geneva, Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and other international organizations, Ambassador Revaz Lominadze held a meeting with the Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Sungah Lee.

During the meeting, the productive cooperation between Georgia and IOM and ongoing projects were highlighted.

The Deputy Director General thanked the Ambassador for the country’s active support, particularly noting the decision by the Government of Georgia to contribute to the IOM Resilience Fund.

Sungah Lee also welcomed Georgia’s selection as an alternate member in the Member State Advisory Group (MSAG) regarding administrative matters.

The discussion also covered diaspora engagement in the country’s development and the steps taken by the Georgian government in this direction. Ambassador Lominadze emphasized that one of the main priorities of the Georgian government is to strengthen relations between the state and the Georgian diaspora. In this context, attention was drawn to state programs related to the diaspora, including successful projects implemented with IOM’s involvement.

Furthermore, the parties noted the importance of the summit planned in Georgia this year under the Global Diaspora Policy Alliance (GDPA) framework and discussed preparatory work for it.

Attention was also given to the event scheduled in New York this year - the International Migration Review Forum 2026, which provides a valuable opportunity to strengthen cooperation on migration and share experiences.

The meeting confirmed the readiness to continue close cooperation.
