Revez Lominadze held a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

On August 13, 2026, Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Offices and other International Organizations in Geneva, Revez Lominadze, held a meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk.

The discussion focused on the difficult human rights and humanitarian situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, as well as the importance of the peaceful resolution of the conflict. The parties reviewed the consequences of the 2008 Russia–Georgia war, the significance of the non-recognition policy, and the progress achieved in this context.

Particular emphasis was placed on the necessity of granting access to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and other international monitoring mechanisms to the occupied territories.
